My People, Digital Photography, 2020

I wanted to record the expressions that my family shows each other and the way they look at one another. The pictures are taken inside my parents house, the house I lived in for almost 17 years. The first set was taken when when our little brother had found a recipe for homemade dough and wanted us to try it. The second set was my mom cutting our older sisters hair.

Reality and Transformation, Digital Photography, 2020

I wanted to focus on the deconstruction of reality and was inspired by the concept of altered reality. This gave me the idea to focus on liminal space. These spaces are transitional or transformative spaces. Examples of these spaces are stairwells, waiting rooms, hallways, and empty parking garages. These spaces are a means of connection, rather than the destination. When the function of these places is lost, it becomes a liminal space. In this way, by capturing these spaces alone, I wanted to take away the context and destination. I wanted to focus only on the empty parking lots and the stairwells. In this approach, I feel I was able to express an altered or transformed reality.
