Anything But Human, 360 Video of 3D Environment, 2023

As an artist, I tend to avoid serious or controversial topics, political or social. Misogyny and sexualization of the female body has become so prevalent in our society that we've been conditioned to recognize certain instances as normal. From the perspective of a feminine bodied person, these cases have simply become occurrences we have to put up with or prepare for. I want to poke at the problem and reemphasize that there is one. They may seem small at times, but little actions can create an unsafe and uncomfortable environment on the daily. There is an error in the system. Unfortunately, in the real world, there is no safety net of the glitch to fix it. I invite you to take a seat on the ride. Here, we are anything but human.

Lone, Digital Video, 57s, 2020

This is a 5-shot film. In this short video, I attempted to explore what it might be like to be the last person on earth. I wanted to convey the loneliness and slow disintegrating sanity of that person in 5 shots.

YinYang, Virtual Digital Video Installation, 3m 43s, 2020

I collaborated with Riley Mendoza for "YinYang." This piece is inspired by the complementary relationship between light and darkness. The video pivots between two characters living in two different worlds, one representing light and the other representing darkness. I took on the world of light and focused my attention on the natural world, youth, and laughter. Throughout the video using glitching and parallels to emphasize the contrast between the two characters. This collection of four short films are meant to be projected simultaneously on the four walls of a room. We wanted to immerse the viewer in the two realms that we created, so they can experience the light and dark closely, without escape.

Running Out of Time, Digital Video, 3m 44s, 2020

I wanted to create a short film on escapism. People are looking for ways to distract themselves from the reality that is our lives. I wanted to cover a few different ways that we attempt to cope. I took inspiration from my own life and some of my own bad habits. These methods of escapism are short reliefs and only prolong the anxieties. The more distracted I become, the more rushed I feel. Deadlines approach more rapidly. This goes hand in hand with procrastination. Oddly, having all these things restricted, I feel like I have nothing to do. I almost feel like I have too much time. I wanted to reflect this sense of urgency along and the simultaneous dread of time passing too slowly as a result of escapism.
